Hosts of Hope

Hosts of Hope

Helping orphans create connections

The Hosts of Hope is a special program that facilitates connections between potential adoptive families and older children residing in orphanages overseas. Through this program, children come to the United States for a two to three week period, and stay with host families. These families are most often open to the possibility of adoption, and our prayer is that a bond will develop between each child and their host family. This gives the children an opportunity to learn what ‘family’ life in the U.S. is about. Their stay includes several group activities with all of the children, as well as everyday individual family experiences. The goal of this program is to provide every child that participates a permanent adoptive family. Our goal for 2008 is to raise $120,000.

Room for One More

Room for One More

Supporting orphanages in dire need of improvements

There are nearly six million orphans in Ethiopia and Nepal. Although these children are considered fortunate because they have a roof over their heads and the promise of food every day, they are still victims of the squalor of the third world. The orphanages that these children live in are often in dire need of improvement, and the children who live there frequently lack the necessities that we take for granted, such as suitable clothing and toys.

Through a financial gift, you can help improve the living situation of these children.

If you would like to contribute to these orphanages, you may use our secure, online donation form.

Our Call to Nepal

Our Call to Nepal

Helping children living in three orphanages in Nepal

Three orphanages that AAI works with in Nepal are struggling to provide not only adequate clothing and shelter for the children, but enough food as well. Consequently, many of these children are malnourished, which places them at risk of severe developmental delays and serious illness.

Funds are needed to ensure that these orphanages continually receive enough infant formula, cereal, and supplements to provide for the children’s nutritional needs. Additional donations are needed to hire more nannies to care for the children and to purchase baby bottles, infant spoons, bowls, food for older children, and clothing. Funds exceeding the project goal will be earmarked to make significant improvements to the structures of the orphanages.

A gift to Our Call to Nepal will significantly impact many orphaned children for a lifetime. Do you feel called to contribute?

Helping children living in an orphanage in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

AAI has made a long-term commitment to sponsoring children in Ethiopia. Orphanages which house hundreds of children need support for its children. AAI sponsors economically poor family households by reducing their poverty and facilitating the education of their children. AAI has also established an office in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Funds are needed to both support the children and to cover expenses for the new office.

Birth Parent Video Project

Birth Parent Video Project

Helping women who are experiencing an unplanned pregnancy

Did you know that less than 2% of women who experience an unplanned pregnancy will choose adoption? It’s a startling statistic, but if you think about it, how many birth parents do you know? Part of the reason why so few women choose adoption is because, just like you, they don’t know other birth parents who have gone on to live normal, successful lives. In order to give these women stories from other women who have been in their situation, AAI has just produced a new birth parent video. This video follows one woman through her decision to plan adoption and highlights many other women of various ages and cultural backgrounds who have also chosen adoption.

Support is needed to help complete the funding for the video that will be used by AAI, and crisis pregnancy centers and other supporting agencies nationwide. Our goal is to raise $76,500.

Blessings in Bundles

Blessings in Bundles

Shipping Clothing and Medical Supplies to AAI-Sponsored Orphanages

AAI has partnered with several organizations to collect “blessings” for children in AAI-sponsored orphanages in Ethiopia, Haiti, and Nepal. Donated clothing and medical supplies are bundled and either sent with families who are traveling to these orphanages, or shipped directly. Since the needs of the children are constant and year-round, our goal is to be able to fund shipping on a consistent basis.
