Children ages infant through 13 years are available through AAI's China Special Waiting Children Program. We currently have both agency assigned referrals (listed below) and over 300 shared agency referrals available for consideration. We have recently linked several shared agency referrals with their forever families. Please call Mary or Laura to ask about available children.

Alexandria

China
DOB: 1-1-2001

Alexandria is a very sweet 7 year old little girl that has been diagnosed with scoliosis. Alexandria enjoys artwork, coloring and drawing. She does not yet attend school although she does seem developmentally on target for her age. Alexandria has many friends in the orphanage and gets along well with others. Her caregivers report that she is a very friendly and eager child who can express her feelings easy to people that she is close to. Alexandria is confident and eager to try new things. Alexandria has scoliosis and therefore tires more easily when completing physical activities. Despite her condition she is very eager to participate in games and activities with her peers. Alexandria leans slightly to her left side because of her scoliosis. She can dress herself with some assistance, feed herself and walk/run with ease. Alexandria would be a good fit in any family. Annie

China
DOB: 12-26-2000

Annie is a happy and bright 7.5 year old who has a delicate face and sweet smile. Her left leg does not bend due to a birth defect. Annie is not currently in school as she has been in the foster care and only recently came into the orphanage. Annie is a little shy but is friendly once she feels comfortable around strangers. Annie enjoys reading, drawing and crafts and seems developmentally on target for her chronological age. Annie enjoys helping others and has many friends in the orphanage. Her caregivers report that she is strong willed and independent but follows instructions well. Annie has a left leg that does not bend due to a birth defect. Annie has has some surgeries to help with this. Annie is very determined, and takes part in all activities with her peers. Annie has a twinkle in her eye. She is a girly-girl who likes to have her hair styled and to wear pink clothes. Annie has a beautiful smile and she can feed and dress herself. Caregivers state that she wants everything “Perfect”. Annie 's speech is not as clear as it should be for a child of her age, as sometimes she does not pronounce words in Chinese correctly. Annie may need speech therapy when learning English. Annie likes to play house and play with dolls and caregivers state she is a “good little mother.” Annie is playful and full of life and would be a wonderful addition to any family. We have pictures, medical information, video and assessments available for this child.

Emma

China
DOB: 9-12-2002

Emma is a friendly and outgoing 6 year old girl diagnosed with choledochocele, which has been removed. Emma enjoys playing with friends and toys. Emma is not in school yet. Emma is very extroverted and friendly, and enjoys being the center of attention. Emma is very curious about the world around her and is eager to show off her talents to others. Emma is an extremely happy child who is always smiling. Developmentally she may be a little behind her peers but she is very independent and catches up after something is explained to her. Emma likes to make her own decisions but is compliant and considerate of her caregivers instructions. Emma is full of life and laughter and has a smile that is contagious. She brightens a room when she comes into it. It is very obvious by the way she interacts with those around her that she has a very easy going and fun loving personality. Emma would do very well in a family with other children or without as she seems very adaptable to the world around her. Pictures and video are available. Medical information is pending from CCAA.

Ethan

China
DOB: 9-18-2002

Ethan is a happy and sweet 6 year old little boy. Ethan enjoys art, especially paper cutting. Ethan is mostly deaf so he is unable to hear what is going on most of the time. Ethan is always happy and smiling and is eager to participate with the other children, despite his hearing loss. Currently, the caregivers are not doing sign language with him, but in the right family it seems very possible for him to learn this. Ethan also has a clubbed foot. Ethan would be a wonderful addition to a family and has a lot of potential for developmental growth! Ethan has an excellent temperament. He tends to observe first and then participant. He has a contiguous smile that warms your heart. He seldom gets upset and is very independent. He can dress himself, brush his teeth and can eat without assistance. He responds to louder sounds/voices and will turn to follow the source of the sound. He can also lip read. His caregiver is very close to him and she tries to speak slowly to him. He understands a lot. He is very patient and very caring. He has established a strong bond with his caregiver. He is a sweet little boy and cared for by all the staff in the orphanage. Given the chance Ethan could benefit from medical technology and sign language available to him in America. Pictures and video are available. Medical information is pending from CCAA.

Evan

China
DOB: 2-21-2001

Evan is a kind, smart and sweet boy who has been diagnosed with scoliosis. Evan enjoys completing math equations and is very, very smart. Evan also enjoys playing with friends and playing games. Evan is 7 years old and has been attending school since he was 6 years old. Evan was fostered by a local family from September 2002 until March 2007. Evan is a little boy who really stood out. He is a polite and compliant little boy who is very well liked by his peers. Despite his scoliosis Evan was able to participate in all activities that were planned while we were in China and he executed all of the physical components with ease. Evan is a very bright and polite little boy who was is proud when he accomplishes a new task and is praised often by the caregivers in the orphanage. Evan expressed that he wants a home very soon. Evan loves to sing and was not afraid to perform in various musical numbers as well as a special marital arts performance when we visited. Evan takes direction well and seems very mature for his 7 years. Evan was able to answer age appropriate questions and seems developmentally on target for his chronological age. Evan's sweet nature was evident through his interactions with the other children from his orphanage. He was accepting of the fact that he placed second in various activities and he was overall a team player. Evan's abilities are astounding and would be fostered so well in a home environment. Evan is a handsome little boy who seems very well adjusted and interested in the world around him. He is able to focus for long periods of time when he finds a subject interesting.
