Many children continue to become available for adoption in our Russia program and families are urgently needed! Adoptions are still being processed in Russia and the outlook for this program is good as the U.S. and Russia continue their work on a bilateral agreement.

Change a Life—Change the World 2010

You’re invited! Our Change a Life—Change the World Gala will be held on Thursday, October 14, 2010. We have selected the Goei Center at 818 Butterworth, Grand Rapids, Michigan, as our venue. Formerly the Kindel Furniture Factory, the Goei Center is a contemporary, loft-style venue with urban elegance and artistic class. Guests will be welcomed with champagne and hors d’oeuvres and then will have the opportunity to bid on exciting items through our Ten-Bid Auction. Dinner, prepared by some of the area’s best chefs, will be served “grazing style.”

US Dept of State Suspends New Adoptions from Nepal

On August 6 the U.S. Department of State (DOS), in conjunction with the U.S. Citizenship & Immigration Services (USCIS), announced the suspension of new adoptions for children presented as abandoned in Nepal.

Russia and U.S. Near Completion of Adoption Accord

Since the tragic April incident involving an adopted Russian child being sent back to Russia unaccompanied, a lot of reform has transpired between the two nations. An adoption accord is nearly complete. This important and historic work will pave the way for better processes for Russian children adopted into U.S. families.
