After three years of infertility treatments, our dreams of having a family finally came true. We began our adoption process with Adoption Associates, Inc. in December of 2003. By the end of March 2004, we had completed our home study and our profile was distributed for birth mothers to view. Since we had been informed that it normally takes nine months to one year before being chosen, we decided to be patient and simply wait for monthly updates from our caseworker. Just three weeks later, we received the exciting phone call we had been waiting for and heard the words: “You have been chosen by a birth mother.”
After the shock and excitement finally wore off, we had so much to prepare for because our baby was due in three weeks! We nervously met with the birth parents, but had a wonderful and fun experience. We met one more time with both the birth parents and talked weekly with the birth mother. These meetings and phone calls gave us an opportunity to become friends.
The morning of May 28th we received the call that our baby girl was on her way! We were invited to the hospital and welcomed with open arms. On May 29th, we met our precious little daughter just seconds after she was born. That day, we spent several hours in the nursery holding her, and the following day we were allowed to take our new bundle of joy home.
This was an unbelievable, emotional, and trying experience. But most of all, it was a joyful one! We are truly blessed and our daughter is the love of our lives!
